their beauty — bright red and boasting three to seven petals. However, among the many intriguing facts about Gulnaar Villa is that the name “Gulnaar” holds a much deeper
meaning.
This excerpt taken from an acclaimed book from the 1940’s ‘Surkh Savera’ by the brilliant Urdu poet and political activist, Makhdoom Mohiuddin, was sung during many processions during the Indian freedom movement, symbolizing freedom in the coming. While the red colour is reminiscent of the sacrifices of the people, and the flower itself is the smile and joy of freedom.
